I made him take a break from the swimming pool because he was shivering and his teeth were chattering. I know, I'm the worst mom ever, right?

Mother's Day Festivities, May 2015
The Friday before Mother's Day this year, our daycare invited all the preschool and pre-K mothers to a Mother's Day Brunch. Isn't that sweet? Apparently, the kids had prepared a little program for us. Since Veronica is in pre-K and Max is in preschool, I was in for a double treat! (As always, click on any photos to enlarge.)
Here is the program:
The kids entered the room and got settled for the show. Here is a photo of them singing. One of the songs even had hand movements!
And a video:
After the show, the kids gave me Mother's Day gifts they had made
Then we enjoyed brunch! (I have no idea what Max is doing here, he's deep in the stage of refusing to pose nicely for photos!)
The teachers really did a fabulous job getting the kids together and organizing. We are super lucky to have such a great daycare.

Max's birthday party (click here for that blog post) was the next day, which meant Lola and Grandmom were in town for Mother's Day that weekend! We went to a Japanese restaurant and walked around Assembly Square a bit, soaking up the sun.
Outside Legoland!

Veronica received two flower arrangements for her ballet recital the previous weekend (click here for that blog post). Jose bought 3 flower arrangements for each of the mothers. Thank you, Jose!

Max's 3rd Birthday Festivities 06May2015
After Veronica's ballet recital (click here to see that post), we started to celebrate Max's birthday. However, Jose and my mom's joint birthday is the day before Max's, on May 5, so we celebrated that first.
Celebrating his birthday with his daycare friends
Max likes cake, but he LOVES donuts. Here he is with his donut cake on the night of his birthday.
And then Ate lost her second tooth!
The party theme was Lightning McQueen from Disney Pixar's Cars movie.
Max loves Lightning McQueen and pretty much loves cars, trucks, trains and planes.
Gigantic Connect Four!
Of course, Lola cooked up a storm!
She made pancit, lumpia (both kinds: shanghai and vegetable), and adobo rice. The kids and the parents loved it.
Max with one of his besties, Oliver
Veornica with Mia
Singing happy birthday to Max
Blowing out the candle, with help from Ate
To view a video of Max blowing out his candle, click here. Apologies for my singing! I have to remember not to talk when I'm taking a video. Since I'm so close to the camera, my voice is SO LOUD.
All smiles from Max and Ate

That weekend we had Max's birthday party at an awesome (and huge) indoor play space nearby. Here are a few photos.
I set up for the party while the kids played.
The party theme was Lightning McQueen from Disney Pixar's Cars movie.
