Newly installed 3D crosswalk at Brooks Elementary in nearby Medford, to help slow down drivers approaching the crosswalk.

Avalanche Prevention

Yesterday, I asked hotel staff how they bomb the mountain to prevent avalanches. They said helicopters drop mortar shells. Seriously. Wow. I guess I was right about it sounding like a war zone. Sure is pretty though.

Interlodge!

Hotel doors literally barricaded to keep people inside. Crazy bombing going on outside. Looks like an idyllic ski resort but sounds like a war zone!

Kids' First Time Skiing @Pats Peak! 10Feb2019

This is the year of introducing the kids to winter sports! They started weekly ice skating lessons in January, and in early February we took them skiing for the first time. Skiing as an activity is so extra. Before you even get on the slopes you need a helmet, ski googles, ski jacket, ski pants, and gloves. Then you need to rent boots, skis & poles and then a lift ticket! We left early in the morning to get to Pats Peak in New Hampshire when the slopes opened. The kids had a lesson and I had a refresher lesson. The weather was fantastic, sunny and not cold or windy. We picked a great ski resort for beginners. The kids did exceptionally well and were racing each other by mid-day. After lunch we graduated from the bunny slopes to the chair lift and the green slopes and the kids loved it! They loved going fast and I couldn't keep up with them! We finished the day back on the advanced bunny slope because I was pretty fatigued but the kids wanted to keep skiing. Veronica and Max are officially skiers!
