* Decorating our Christmas tree
* The first snowfall of the winter
* Letters to Santa
* Basketball season for the kids
* A little grown-up time with some friends in their newly renovated kitchen
* Veronica's class field trip to the Tsongas Industrial History Center (click on that link to find out more). According to their website, "the Tsongas Industrial History Center is a hands-on center where students learn about the American Industrial Revolution through activities and tours of the sites where history—and science—happened". Since this was considered an engineering field trip, I was more than happy to volunteer to chaperone. Happily, several of the other parent chaperones (all moms) are engineers too. The highlight of the field trip was the hands-on engineering activity: in teams of two, the kids had to build a vehicle that would transport spools of thread up an incline and around a few obstacles, deliver the spools of thread, pick up little bolts of cloth, then make it back to the starting point. Veronica and her partner worked very well together and were the first to finish! I was so proud of them, and it was so hard to keep myself from participating!
* The annual Filipino School Christmas showcase and potluck, complete with a visit from Santa Claus. The kids carried the parols that they made in the Parol Parade (Veronica got to lead the parade this year), and Veronica's class danced the tinikling, and Max's class sang a few carols.
* Max's blue belt test in karate. At the blue belt level, you have to break two boards put together instead of just one. He, of course, was super into it. So proud of him!
* A Bruins game for Max, and a Celtics game for Veronica
* A little Christmas concert given by the students taking instrument lessons at Lincoln. They put on some holiday gear and played a few songs in the hallway near the library. Veronica has been really loving learning the flute and she's getting quite good at it.
