August 2021 in East Hampton with Lilong

We are so lucky to have Jose and Erik in East Hampton to visit. The kids love the swimming pool, playing with Charlie, and going to mini golf. In August 2021, my dad visited at the same time and it was the first time we'd seen him since the pandemic started. Jose got us all tickets to see Camelot! and it was fun to be able to enjoy theater outdoors. At our request, Dad made his amazing pork adobo, that we all gobbled up. The kids continued with their virtual ukulele lessons, which my dad gave them pointers on. We visited a lovely vineyard, had a yummy seafood lunch, and drove out to the Montauk Lighthouse. Our visit ended by celebrating early the September birthdays of Veronica, Erik, and Patrick.

Wavus Kieve Camps, August 2021

The kids spent 10 days at sleepaway camp in Maine. Wavus is the girls camp, and Kieve is the boys camp. They are situated across the lovely Lake Damariscotta from each other. The kids spent their days swimming, stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, canoeing, target shooting, playing sports, learning archery, singing, dancing, rockwall climbing, traversing ropes courses, composing skits, and making S'mores. They also each had an overnight camping trip, taking a lobster boat to Hog Island Audubon camp. In the middle of the 10 days, they visited each other for dinner on Sibling Sunday. They had an amazing time, especially Veronica, who is planning on going back next summer for their 3.5-week session. Max enjoyed it, too, but was not a big fan of being away from Mama and Daddy.

July 2021 & Kid-Free Maine Weekend

Here are a few photos from the end of July. Max did some horseback riding for the first time at day camp, and Adrian took us to a Porsche party in Portland, Maine. We also spent some time at the Winchester Boat Club. Then Adrian and I dropped both kids off at sleepaway camp and had a glorious kid-free 10 days, including an amazing weekend in Maine. Lots of oysters, lobster, wine, and beer were consumed. We did some hiking, visited the lighthouse made famous by the Forrest Gump movie, went to the Farnsworth Art Museum, spent Friendship Day with friends who live in Friendship, Maine, and visited the Olson House (made famous by the Andrew Wyeth painting "Christina's World"). It was all utterly idyllic and quaint. And peaceful, so very peaceful.
