Subject: today in preschool

Hi Everyone!
We had a great day in Preschool and Pre-K today! Today Erin from Knucklebones came by and played lots of games with us to help us get a "work out" in. First we worked on warming up and stretching out. Then we planted a garden, we had to use cones, bowls, and balls to create flowers. We also pretended to be surfing in the ocean on balancing apparatuses. We were so happy to get outside before the rain came. Enjoy our sideshow!

Veronica Karate Showcase 14Dec2015

Veronica has been taking karate this past fall at Kids' Corner. Today was the last day of karate and they had a showcase for the parents.

This is a video of her doing something I think is called Forms:

Veronica also earned her yellow belt today! One requirement is to break a board:

She was VERY NERVOUS that she wouldn't be able to break the board, but she was a total champ! We're super proud of her. Look out, Mr. Miyagi!

Here she is showing off her broken board and newly earned yellow belt!

Happy Friday!

Attached you will find a description and pictures of our galactic day in preschool! We also had the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful weather in the playground! The children had a blast learning and exploring with space! Please come into our classroom and take a look at the children's art work being displayed in the classroom boards!

What a galactic day we had today! We explored constellations and used Q-tips to re-create them on our papers. Then, we used colored glue on wax paper to make our own stars! We had a blast using our sense of touch to play with the galaxy silly putty, using planet stampers to make imprints in it. We also played in the moon dust, having our astronaut figures sift through the surface of the moon, finding rocks and space treasures!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Dear Preschool parents,

Attached you will find a power point with pictures and a summary of our day in preschool! The children are having a blast learning about space and using different textures. Our circle was full of great questions about space in relation to the fictional book we read. In the book both kids were having a hard time sharing which is why they "broke the moon", and finally they end up working together to use a piece of cheese to replace the moon. The kids thought it was very silly and also talked about the great job they did working together!

Today during circle we read Sidney Stella and the moon, discussed how the eight planets orbit around the sun. Due to this rotation we also get to see different phases of the moon. I used a yellow and white circle to demonstrate the different phases of the moon around earth. For our planned activities we cut out planets, pretended to be astronauts, made crescent moons using moon dust, and used clay to make meteorites.

Have a wonderful evening,
Preschool

Thanksgiving 2015

Lola and Gramps came for a nice long Thanksgiving week visit. My mom made a ton of delicious food and Adrian cooked the turkey in his Big Green Egg. Everything was delicious. After Thanksgiving I made our traditional soup with the turkey leftovers, including boiling the carcass all day for the stock. The week's activities also included going for a hike in the Fells, getting our Christmas tree and decorating it, as well as going to Faneuil Hall to check out the big Christmas tree and watch the light show, Boston Blink!
Here are a few photos from the week:
