Last summer marked the first time Veronica went to sleepaway camp. Luckily, she went with one of her good friends from school so she was not completely by herself. Veronica and Caroline took a 10-day Junior session at Wavus Camp for Girls. At drop-off we got her unpacked and situated in her cabin and bunk, met her cabin mates (including Caroline), had lunch with the staff and other girls and their families, then checked out the camp facilities. Veronica and Caroline were already getting geared up for their first rock climb when we left with Max. I'm proud to say no tears were shed at our departure. The same cannot be said for what happened in the car on the way home...
Veronica had a great time at camp! She swam in Lake Damariscotta at least twice a day, went on an overnight camping trip to an island off of the coast of Maine, did woodworking, archery, canoeing, rock climbing, kayaking, diaper diving, and lots of other Maine-y and woods-y activities. One of her favorite activities was stand-up paddle boarding (=SUP). We decided to spend a couple of days at camp for Parents Weekend so the family also got to do some of the lovely activities on the lake, including a welcome lobster bake! Veronica enjoyed her time at camp so much that she is returning this summer for another Junior Wavus session.
