I would love if these came in an adult size.

Belly Photo: 39 Weeks 2 Days

We've got just about everything ready for The Bairn and are just waiting for him to make his way out. Is it obvious that the only spare moment I have to take a belly photo is when Adrian is reading Veronica her bedtime books?

Veronica the Librarian

I tried to push the glasses up to the bridge of her nose, but she insisted that the end of her nose was the proper spot.

Party Girl

Belly Video 38W2D

A few nights ago I was sitting in bed reading. I noticed the baby was really active so I took a video. This might freak some of you out a little bit, but it's also kind of amazing. It still astounds me that I'm growing a baby in there. The noise in the background is Adrian snoring , he had a bad cold. If you don't want to hear him, just mute the video. In the video, all of the up-and-down motion is my breathing, but the side-to-side motions are all baby. Enjoy.

Easter 2012

Here are a few photos from Easter weekend. We had an Easter egg hunt on Saturday in our backyard, then on Sunday we decorated some eggs (and she ate 3 of them almost immediately.) Veronica loved looking for the eggs, but not as much as she loved eating the the treats inside. She does not normally get that much sugar, so she was pretty loopy for a bit. Luckily, some of the eggs had stickers inside rather than treats.
Looking for eggs.
Daddy helps open them up.
Mmm, sugar!
I can't believe they're letting me eat all this sugar.
On Easter Sunday we decorated some eggs. Veronica really enjoyed dipping the eggs in the colored solutions. I think she preferred dipping her hands, though. At least the dyes washed off easily!
Fishing for the egg.
This dipper is poorly designed.
Three of the eggs lasted all of 5 seconds. Actually, she kept saying she wanted to eat them when they were still being dyed. Luckily, she prefers the egg white over the yolk, just like I did as a kid. We hope you all had great Easters!

Equal and Opposite Reaction

I was leaning a bit on the kitchen counter with my belly the other day and I guess the baby didn't like that, so the baby kicked out at the counter, propelling my entire body straight back. That has GOT to be the coolest example of Newton's Third Law of Motion I have ever experienced.

Veronica Eats

Veronica eschews cheddar for taleggio, and prefers chicken on the bone over chicken tenders. She even created a taleggio song. I think I've created a mini foodie monster.

Veronica Says: I Can't

Me: Veronica, please put your shoes away where they belong.
Veronica: No, Mommy, I can't.
Me: What do you mean you can't? You do it all the time. Why can't you?
Veronica: I can't do it Mommy, because I'm pregnant.
**************
Good grief. So much for living by example. These last couple of weeks I've been really feeling my pregnancy so I haven't been carrying her as much as I normally do. I tell her I can't carry her because I'm very pregnant. So she's figured out an excuse not to do things! Clever girl.

Daycare Photos: Photos from last week

It's great that the weather is getting warmer and the kids can spend more time in the playground. Veronica and her friends love to play outside, they particularly love the little toy cars and take turns riding and pushing each other in them.
One thing that I love about daycare is all the different activities they have the children do. I would be very hard pressed to come up with so many on my own. The training that the teachers have in early childhood development is really apparent in the monthly curriculums and daily notes they provide.

Veronica Video: Car Seat Dancing

I took this video while we were waiting for Adrian in the car. Veronica loves to dance and she loves these two songs right now. I have no idea where the hand and head motions came from. I had never seen them before, but she had me cracking up. The expressions on her face are priceless. The video gets a bit weird in the middle, but keep watching and it clears up again. My apologies that this is sideways. Sometimes I forget about that when I take videos with my phone! It's still pretty hilarious to watch, even though you have to tilt your head.

Veronica Video: Ice Cream!

This is a video we took in Houston at the barbecue restaurant. They're known for their peach cobbler, served with vanilla ice cream. But Veronica only wanted the ice cream, and definitely did not want to share with Ninong!

Veronica Videos: Song and Dance

Here are two videos that I've had hiding in my digital camera. This first video was taken at Clark's 1st birthday party on March 3. Veronica saw a toy microphone and decided it was the perfect opportunity to make up her own lyrics to the tune of Twinkle Twinkle (or is that the ABC Song?):

This second video was taken at a FAN event. FAN is a group based in our town for parents of toddlers and kids under 5. They host lots of fun events for young children (and a few nights out for parents) and are a great local resource for parents. This event was an opportunity for the kids to dance to a local band. The music is a little loud, so you may want to turn the volume down on your computer. As you can see, Veronica had a great time:

Houston Trip: Grandmom's Wedding!

We went to Houston a couple of weekends ago for Kathy and John's wedding. We had a spectacular weekend. It was Veronica's first plane trip (you've already seen the photos from the plane trips in previous posts) and her first stay in a hotel. She loved both! She was SOOOO good on the plane trips, especially considering she was only recently (maybe about 2 weeks) potty trained and we were a bit nervous about it but she did fantastically. Not one accident on the taxi rides in Boston, both plane rides, or the very long car rides to/from the airport in Houston. We are so proud of her. I would also like to give my brother, Jose, a shout out. He sang at the wedding but rather than flying straight from NY to Houston, he came to Boston from New York to help us out on the plane trips with Veronica and all her STUFF and the fact that I was very very pregnant. He was a HUGE help, not to mention he played with her in the mornings so Adrian and I could get some extra sleep. Any parent with young kids knows that that is one of the best gifts ever. Toddlers wake up early and sleeping in is a thing of the past for us. Thanks, Jose! Here are the photos I finally uploaded from my camera from the weekend:
Enjoying Kathy & John's pool.
The whirlpool was nice and warm and the perfect warm weather in Houston was bliss for us New Englanders.
Meeting cousin Liam and Aunt Sue.
Adrian walking Kathy down the aisle.
During the ceremony.
Congratulations, Kathy & John!
Adrian's entree. Yes, this is meant for one person. A Texas-sized person.
Veronica and Liam enjoying the flowers
Her signature colors are blush and bashful.
Family picture. Patricia is almost 35 weeks pregnant!
Veronica sees Ninong (Jose) sing for the first time. She was mesmerized.
The happy couple's first dance. Apparently, Veronica thought they needed company and "persuaded" cousin Liam to dance with her.
Veronica and Daddy, so happy!

Ice Cream = YUM

Veronica enjoying a frozen yogurt at IKEA last Saturday. Miraculously, she only got it on her face and one hand! She can be quite meticulous.

Veronica Says: Two gems from this past weekend

You know your toddler has an architect for a father when she says: "Mommy, I want to put a light fixture in the closet."

This morning, I was laughing (ok, maybe giggling) about something when Veronica chimed in with, "Mommy, stop googling!"
