Hello Preschool Families,

Today we took advantage of the beautiful weather and went for a walk to costa park. The children loved the 15 minute walk to a different playground. We saw signs,  cars, trucks, construction vehicles, and a lot of people during the walk. When we got the Costa playground, the children were estactic to explore this new environment. We've been to this park before, but not since last summer. Please see attached photos of the preschoolers having a great time!

Today's activities included gross motor, cognitive, social, and language development.

Hello Parents,

  Today we explored different vegetables after circle. Children touched, smelled, and looked at the vegetables and tried to describe them with their senses. They conversed in groups of two about the vegetables. This was a good way for the children to expand their vocabulary and learn more about vegetables. The vegetables used were: kale, broccoli, purple cabbage, onion, and cucumber. Attached are pictures of the children exploring, make sure you also check out the chart in the classroom that was made showing what the children said. Enjoy!

Veronica & Max Daycare Photos

The infant room sent lots of photos of Max and Veronica, who loves to visit her little brother almost every day. The infant teachers have commented to me that she's a great big sister and really dotes on him.

Max loves to put things inside other things. And take them out. And put them back in.

Max showing off his walk! He's an early walker. There are 3 older kids in his infant class and he's the only walker so far!

Iskwelahang Pilipino (aka IP), (aka Filipino School)

Gramps happened to visit on a weekend that Veronica had IP (Iskwelahang Pilipino = Filipino School). The lesson of the day was Influences on Filipino Food. The teachers talked about how adobo is native to the Filipino menu, but there are many foreign influences that have enriched our menu, such as lo mein from China (pancit) and flan from Spain (leche flan), and canned goods and ice cream from the US (spam, corned beef, vienna sausage). Here are lots of photos that Gramps took (thanks, Gramps!).

Gramps is visiting this weekend and he's very productive with his camera, thank goodness! Here is a photo collage from last Saturday. We went to a concert where Veronica got to dance to live music and eat oatmeal cookies. She is also wearing a dress from Lola that Gramps brought back from Manila.

Veronica's Restaurant Week

This week the theme in Veronica's preschool class is restaurants! They made up their own restaurant names and made menus for their own restaurants. Check out what Veronica named her restaurant! So sweet. The second photo is the inside of her menu, where you can see what she has to offer. Such a deal at $3 for each item! They are some of her favorite foods. I'm so proud there's broccoli. I want to eat at that restaurant.

Subject: Today in Preschool

Hello Families,

Today we wrapped our theme on restaurants with the book Froggy Eats Out by Jonathon London. In this book, Froggy is disruptive while dining out at a fancy restaurant. We talked about how important it is to behave when we are at a restaurant; as well as what it means to behave in a proper manner. The children really loved this book. The Froggy book series always offer comic relief to serious conversations; in this situation it was how to be respectful.

We also took a walk around Kendall square. After not being able to play in the snow all week, the children really enjoyed getting some fresh air! As we walked around Kendall, we also pointed out the different restaurants that we saw.
